Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro

Hispanic Heritage Month is a special time of year when we honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx individuals in our communities. At the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro (CFGG), we recognize the importance of this celebration, and we were excited to engage in meaningful activities that highlighted the vibrant cultures that have shaped our city and the broader American landscape.

As part of our celebration, the CFGG Equity Team came together to prepare a special lunch inspired by Latin cuisines from different parts of the Americas. Team members Megan Quinones and Martin Acevedo took the lead, cooking up a delicious assortment of authentic dishes that represented their cultural roots. From savory flavors to sweet delights, this meal provided a taste of the rich diversity within the Hispanic and Latinx communities, offering a flavorful journey through the different regions of Latin America.

Beyond the food, the celebration was about building connection and understanding within our team. Megan and Martin not only shared their culinary talents, but they also shared stories about their heritage, giving the team insight into the importance of Hispanic culture and how it has influenced their personal and professional lives. It was a unique opportunity for all of us to reflect on the incredible impact that Hispanic and Latinx individuals have had on our community and our nation.

At CFGG, we are committed to fostering inclusivity and recognizing the cultural contributions that strengthen our community—Hispanic Heritage Month provided a platform for us to engage with our team members’ diverse backgrounds and celebrate the values of unity, equity, and diversity central to our work.

As we continue to grow as a foundation, we are dedicated to supporting initiatives that uplift the Hispanic and Latinx communities of Greensboro. We look forward to further honoring these contributions through our grantmaking, partnerships, and community engagement efforts.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month from all of us at CFGG! We look forward to many more celebrations and opportunities to honor the rich diversity of our team and our community.
