The Future Fund of Greensboro, an initiative of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, is investing in the city’s future by awarding $60,000 in grants to six nonprofits advancing economic mobility across Guilford County. Founded in 1999, the Future Fund was established to inspire a spirit of philanthropy among young professionals and to ensure that Greensboro’s next generation has a voice in shaping the community’s future. Members contribute annually to a growing endowment, then come together each year to learn about local needs and determine where their collective dollars will have the greatest impact. Through this shared process, the Fund has awarded over $660,000 in grants to local organizations that strengthen the community.
The Future Fund’s mission is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: that meaningful change happens when people work together to invest in their hometown. Guided by its four core areas of interest—education, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and financial stability—the Fund supports programs that open doors to opportunity and promote long-term prosperity for all. Each year, members focus on a specific Field of Interest, and the 2025 grants reflect a deep commitment to expanding pathways toward economic mobility. This year’s six nonprofit partners exemplify innovation, collaboration, and measurable community impact, offering local solutions to some of Greensboro’s most pressing economic challenges.
