What is the mission of Women to Women?
To establish a permanent grantmaking endowment for high-impact grants to address the issues of women and families.
What is Women to Women?
It is a grantmaking fund created solely by women to help women of Greensboro. Women to Women, in partnership with The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, strives to inspire hope and make substantial contributions to the lives of women and their families in our community. Since Women to Women is not an annual fund but a permanent endowment, Women to Women spends the interest earned on its fund to make sizable financial grants to charitable and volunteer organizations in Greensboro each year.
What are the goals of Women to Women?
High-impact grants are awarded annually to projects in our focus areas – education, social services, the environment, health and the arts. Women to Women works with existing organizations to find innovative ways to solve the problems facing women and their families. We have raised our initial $3 million goal and are now working to generate an additional $2 million. A $5-million fund, once fully realized, ultimately will provide up to $200,000 every year for high-dollar grants.
Why is there a need for Women to Women in Greensboro?
Greensboro is no different than most cities in the obstacles women face. There is a gap between the needs of women and the funding available to meet those needs? By giving sizable grants that enable programs of high impact, Women to Women provides the chance to make a permanent difference in the lives of our community’s women and families. Greensboro has a tradition of strong leadership among women. Women to Women honors this legacy by creating a permanent endowment for women’s issues – raised by women themselves.
Who will benefit from Women to Women grants?
Greensboro is fortunate to have an outstanding infrastructure of agencies that serves our social fabric, from health and social issues, to education and quality of life. The money granted by Women to Women is meant to encourage these agencies to think creatively about how best to improve the lives of women and their families in Greensboro. Since women are often the sole caregivers and strong role models in their families, it is of utmost importance for us to focus on them for our own and future community.
What is Women to Women’s strategy?
Women to Women lets women join forces to address issues facing Greensboro’s women and families. An Advisory Council, comprised of Women to Women founding donors, working in conjunction with The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, directs the annual grantmaking effort. The council also spreads the word about Women to Women to new potential donors and plans celebratory and informational events. Finally, establishing and growing this endowment ensures that Greensboro recognizes and addresses women’s issues now and in the future.
Why are women being asked to give?
Because women are caring and powerful. And they are the answer. Women have the compassion and kindness to recognize where needs exist, the generous spirit to provide the financial resource necessary to help and the visionary leadership to make the effort sustained and successful. In addition, Women are an untapped, underestimated and underappreciated source of funding. Women to Women provides the opportunity for women to play a more prominent role in giving – and giving back. Finally, by women pooling their money together, Women to Women can make sizable financial grants to charitable and volunteer organizations in Greensboro. Together we can provide a better today and tomorrow for the women of our community.
