The Community Foundation awards 2009 scholarships

The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro administers more than 60 scholarships which are awarded each year to outstanding students, both locally and across the country. Scholarships offer fundholders a unique opportunity to directly impact the lives of youth and young adults who wish to continue their education. Likewise, the Alamance Foundation similarly awards scholarships.

Housing Greensboro begins repairs on 100th home, assisted by The Community Foundation

With the assistance of The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, Housing Greensboro, a local non-profit dedicated to home repair and rehabilitation for low-income Greensboro residents, has begun repairing its 100th home in Greensboro. The repair project will benefit a 66-year-old woman who is caring for her disabled daughter and has been an employee of Cone Mills for over 38 years. The organization will be leading volunteers in repairing her kitchen, bathroom and making accessibility modifications to her home for her daughter.

Local developer pledges up to $25,000 to become challenge sponsor of Future Fund

GREENSBORO, N.C. –  Greensboro businessman John Lomax has pledged up to $25,000 in matching funds to become this year’s challenge sponsor of the Future Fund.
 
Lomax’s gift was announced recently at a gathering of Future Fund members.
