Greensboro, NC – The Women to Women Initiative of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro (CFGG) has announced actress Andie MacDowell as the featured speaker for their annual celebration luncheon. The event is slated for Monday, October 16, at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.

Women to Women is a permanent grantmaking endowment at CFGG, supporting projects and programs that benefit women. In 2016, Women to Women awarded $140,000 in grants. This year’s recipients will be announced at the luncheon, along with presenting sponsor Greensboro News & Record’s Woman of the Year and Rising Star awards.

Andie MacDowell is the featured speaker for the 2017 Women to Women Luncheon.

MacDowell is an award-winning actress and North Carolina resident well known for both her artistic and philanthropic achievements. She currently stars as Judge Olivia Lockhart in the first Hallmark Channel scripted series Cedar Cove. MacDowell is a three-time Golden Globe nominee for her roles in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Green Card, and Sex, Lies and Videotape, for which she also won a Los Angeles Film Critics award for Best Actress.

As an international spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris Cosmetics for the past thirty years, MacDowell has championed the firm’s efforts to fight ovarian cancer. That commitment has raised over $20 million for awareness and research for the deadly disease. She is also known for her work with children’s health organizations. For those efforts, she was presented with an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Lander University and an Honor of the Arts from Winthrop College.
